Vincent on Vincent:
"Color, textural quality and intriguing surfaces are what I needed to sustain my desire to continue with pottery. My direct wheel and spontaneous approach to decorating with colored clays is ideally suited for my curious and exploratory style. Unexpected results make for further development. The more I get involved, the more potential I see. I cannot become too secure with successes. Experimenting is stimulating and necessary. Salt glazing is a revealing process. There is the unknown, the variation, and the impetus. This impetus pushes one further and reinforces my desire to push forward. Salt glazing pottery is a durable pottery made of clays that contain materials such as silica flint, helpful in fostering a good glaze surface. This particular glaze surface is achieved by throwing common slats and other sodium products into the kiln at its maximum temperature. The sodium vapors attack surface and mix with material in the clay. The thickness and glossiness depends on the amount of sodium used."
